Houghton Mifflin Company’s College Division
offers a limited number of summer internship positions in several
of its departments: Editorial, Marketing and Advertising, Art and Design,
Production, Rights and Permissions, Custom Publishing, and Software Development.
Editorial interns work in specific discipline areas, including History,
World Languages (Modern Languages and ESL), Accounting and Business, Economics,
English Composition and Literature, Mathematics, Science, Psychology, and
Education and Political Science.
The ideal candidate for a College Division internship position is a college
sophomore, junior, or graduate student whose verbal skills are well developed
and who is majoring in a field related to the work of one of our departments.
Preference is given to candidates who have a demonstrated interest in publishing.
The intern works with experienced personnel, and the amount of direct teaching
and supervision typically ranges from one to five hours per week.
The length of the internship is usually three months (June, July, and August).
Positions are full-time (35 hours/week) in order to make the experience meaningful for
the intern and useful for the supervisor. Students are paid on an hourly
basis.
Each interested student should submit a hard copy résumé and
a cover letter, starting January 1 and ending March 30, to:
Houghton Mifflin Company
College Division, Internship Coordinator
222 Berkeley Street,
Boston, MA 02116-3764
or email your cover letter and resume to Abby_Straskulic@hmco.com.
