Paths to Action Chapter Four: Women Seeking Office – The Next Phase of Political Integration
- Go to the White House Project web site. Look at the curriculum for girls and develop a unit on political leadership for a local girls' club (e.g. Girl Scouts or other organizations). Be sure that it is interactive, fun, and informative. Think carefully about the message you want to convey to girls about political leadership before you start.
- Contact a woman public official in your area. Interview her about her experiences in running for office or gaining an appointment to office. What is her background? How did she become interested in public service? How did she prepare for a life in politics? Develop a short presentation for your class based on the information. Don’t forget to ask about internship opportunities if you are interested and ready for one!
