Exercise 12.2: Writing Q-sort Statements
The following is a design for a Q-sort to study political ideology.
A. Ideology: [a] Liberal [b] Conservative
B. Issue Type: [c] Moral [d] Economic/Welfare [e] Defense and Foreign Policy
Write a statement that might be used in a Q-sort that represents each of six aspects of ideology (two ideologies × three issue types: 2 × 3 = 6).
For example a conservative economic [bd] statement might be:
"Government should stop regulating business and protecting consumers and let business regulate itself."
