Anna Tompson Hayden
(1648-1720)
Anna Tompson Hayden was half-sister to Benjamin Tompson and Joseph
Tompson, in whose journal all of her known poems have been preserved. She
married Ebenezer Hayden of Boston and had one child, born in 1679. Hayden’s two
extant poems are elegiac; they reveal an acceptance of death in humble accord
with God’s plan.
