Strategies and Praxis Preparation
The following are strategies that currently reflect "best practice" in reading instruction. Questions about them often appear on specialty tests that strive to assess both knowledge of principles and processes. These strategies supplement many of those more fully discussed in the text.
Technology Resources
Print, multimedia, and Internet resources: explore the materials available to you.
Model Syllabi
The syllabus covers a fifteen-week course in reading methods that includes a practicum. Course work is for a period of seven to ten weeks, and the practicum is for the remainder of the time.
Instructional Resources
For each chapter you'll find helpful information such as a chapter outline, a spotlight on vocabulary, a list of additonal instructional media, and classroom ideas and additional strategies.
PowerPoint Slides
Enhance classroom lectures with visual presentations.
Video clip correlation to TRITES CD
Here you will find a correlation to the video clips that appear on the CD for Teaching Reading in Today's Elementary Schools, 9/e that are appropriate to show in your middle school course.
