The site provides survey information on state-by-state assessment practices for K–12, university, and employment tests. It also provides links to publications, articles, and fact sheets on standardized and alternative assessment.

National Assessment of Educational Progress
The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) is mandated by Congress to provide objective data about the levels of knowledge, skills, and student performance at national, regional, and, on a trial basis, state levels. This site provides access to information and data about government-mandated, nationwide assessments at the national, regional, and state levels.

National Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards, and Student Testing (CRESST)
The National Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards, and Student Testing (CRESST) conducts research on important topics related to K–12 educational testing. The ReadWrite Site
This fabulous site is host to the reading estimator, assessment calculator, and book browser.

Toolkit98: Alternative Assessment
Developers of the Toolkit98 describe the contents as "materials that are like the hammers, saws, and screwdrivers of a carpenter's toolkit." As the name implies, a toolkit contains a number of items that can be used to construct a multitude of authentic instruments to assess student achievement. This site contains chapters that provide background or foundation information on alternative assessments, and training activities designed to model effective teaching strategies.
