Appendix B: Phonetic Transcription
This appendix which appears in the 10th edition gives reasons for learning and using a system of phonetic transcription. All students of announcing should learn to transcribe words according to some system of phonetic transcripton and to read words that have been phoneticized by others.
Foreign Language Pronunciation Appendix
This appendix provides extensive information on rules of pronunciation for French, German, Spanish, and Italian, with a less extensive discussion of Chinese pronunciation.
