Questions for Further Thought
Chapter 8: Test Taking Strategies

Look at several old tests and analyze why you might have gotten answers incorrect. What mistakes did you make? Where did most of the questions come from? Why did you miss the questions you missed? What will you do differently to prepare for the next test? What will you do the same?

Discuss the advantages of knowing what will be on a test before you study. Think about the last test you did really well on. List strategies that you used to study. Why do you think you did well? Likewise, think of the last test your did poorly on? Why? What could you have done differently?

Take the role of your instructors. Now explain several reasons why you give students tests.

Explain to a fellow student how to write and effective essay.

Choose two or three of the following topics we have studied and tell how they relate to doing well on tests: Time Management, Memory Principles, Label in the Margin, Learning Styles, Critical Thinking.
