Chapter 1: Chemistry: An Introduction
Understanding the concepts

1. Open Chapter 1: Chemistry: An Introduction on the Introductory Chemistry Interactive 5.0 student CD. The initial screen for each chapter is a brief overview or summary of the material presented in that chapter of the Zumdahl text. Reading the overview is a good way to focus your attention on the important topics presented in each chapter.

2. Two options available for each chapter are Glossary and the Periodic Table. The Glossary has definitions for the terms discussed throughout the text, which are useful when you need clarification on a term that was introduced in previous chapters. The Periodic Table is available for helping solve problems on the CD, many of which require you to reference it.

3. Test your understanding of Chapter 1 by taking the ACE quizzes on the student web site

4. To get to the next chapter on the Introductory Chemistry Interactive 5.0 CD, click on the "Main Menu" button at the bottom of the screen. Then choose the chapter you would like to explore next.
