Looking for a job--especially your first professional job--can be one of the hardest, loneliest, and most challenging experiences of your life. The following Web site may help you in this process:

Don't Travel Alone:
- Lots of your friends are in the same boat. By forming a job-search group along the same lines as a study group, you can share ideas and leads, critique each other’s resumes and question answers, and provide encouragement and support.
- Other friends and family can also provide support. You may want to build a list of people you can call to get a pep talk when the process seems discouraging.
This Is Not A Contest:
- It’s more like putting together a puzzle. Not getting a job, or an interview, is not a negative reflection on you. Rather, it indicates that the interviewer felt that given the characteristics of the job and the organization, you were not as good a fit as others were.
- Also, keep in mind that some companies recruit and interview students every year even if they don't have any jobs-- to measure what the market looks like and to keep their favored position with your school’s career center.
- Remember that you and the interviewers have the same goals--to find a fit that leads to success for both you and the company.
