The Human Resources Tech Talk box on page 182 describes several Internet sites dedicated to employment opportunities for job seekers (CareerMosaic, Career Path, Hoover’s Online, Online Career Center/Monster.com). Visit each site. As you move through the site, try to place yourself in the role of a job seeker looking for employment in each of the following areas:

Production manager in a manufacturing plant

Sales representative for a consumer products group

Restaurant manager

Questions

  1. Are there any differences in ease of use and perceived value for job searches across the three sites?
  2. Are there any differences in ease of use and perceived value for each of the three kinds of jobs being searched?
  3. Identify the basic quality requirements in such a site to maximize its potential value to a job seeker.
