- BOOKS ELIGIBLE—All books in print returned within 12 months of invoice date, if saleable, new, unmarked, undamaged, and in current editions. A handling fee may apply: see our Partners In Success Program for details. Additionally a penalty applies to books held for more than 12 months.
- BOOKS INELIGIBLE—Books declared out of print are not returnable 90 days after the OP date. Books superseded by a new edition are not returnable more than 120 days following publication date of the new edition unless prior extension was granted.
- VIDEOTAPES and CASSETTES are not returnable.
- CD-ROMS and SHRINK-WRAPPED PACKAGESare not returnable if shrink-wrap is broken.
- AUTHORIZATION— No permission required for books purchased directly from Houghton Mifflin. A copy of the invoice or HMCo packing slip, or invoice number and pertinent information must accompany return. We will not accept collect shipments unless authorized by Customer Service.
- CUSTOM PUBLISHED BOOKS—Please contact
Customer Service for permission to return.
- BIBLIOBASE, MARICOPA, KANAR and CASSIDY MODULES VERSIONS are not returnable.
- DEFECTIVE, DAMAGED, or INCORRECT TITLES are not considered overstock. Please contact Customer Service within 30 days of receipt, (800) 225-1464, for replacements and return instructions.
- DATED MATERIAL is nonreturnable.
- PENALTY—Return of books held more than 12 months, if accepted for credit rather than being returned to the customer, are subject to a 25% penalty.

|   | How to Prepare Your Return |  |
- Use strong corrugated cartons (275-pound test cartons are suggested). Pack securely, and use adequate stuffing material and dividers between rows to prevent damage in transit (do not use newspaper). Do not stack on edge of binding. Please limit carton to 45 pounds.
- For accurate and timely processing, please make sure your packing list indicates HMCo Account # and/or your SAN #, CB Return #, Quantity, ISBN and title of items, and # of cartons returned. Mark carton with paperwork "Paperwork Enclosed."
- To speed the processing of your return for credit, please place quantities of the same title in a single carton where possible.
- Label and number each carton of a multiple carton return (i.e. 1 of 3,
2 of 3, 3 of 3).
- Bill of Lading must specifically indicate carton count.
Credit will be issued based on the sales history for your account. If no sales history exists for the product returned, the book(s) will be returned at your expense.
